REEL PEOPLE SCotLAND
Unleashing and Inspiring Creativity in Scotland
‘Finding our spirit, our voices and a way to celebrate our lives together’

Reel People are a team of creative filmmakers with a passion for unlocking creativity and inspiring growth within individuals and the community. We aim to uncover and develop creative skills, social capacities and personal expression through the film-making process. This will nurture confidence, communication and self-esteem, giving those who participate a platform to share lived experiences through film and gain an understanding of the impact such issues have on their communities by opening them for discussion.
Our projects engage with the community and encourage anyone with an interest in filmmaking to take part and reconnect with themselves and others. Through making a short film, documentary or music video we will explore various social, emotional and mental issues such as anxiety, addiction, crime, abuse, poverty and isolation and the effects they have on the individual, families and society in whole. The final films will be used as tools to reach out to local authorities, addictions services and schools in the hope of creating empathy towards those affected and highlight the issues facing young adults and people in recovery.
Reel People connect with groups by mentoring on an individual and group basis, offering support to achieve the maximum creative potential of all participants. We aim to allow participants to discover new talents and express themselves within the creative boundaries of filmmaking. Transferable skills include communication, literacy, technical filmmaking skills, confidence and team work.
We believe that giving people a voice will help reintegrate and reconnect them with their community and society resulting in more productive and creative expression, as well as opening up possibilities for education, training or work in the creative industries.
